What is this about?
We’ve detected that you are connected to the network via WiFi. While this is quite common, it may affect your media quality, especially if the WiFi access point is more than a couple of meters from your device.
To improve your media quality you should either shift to an Ethernet based connection (a network cable plugged directly to your device) or make sure you are close to the access point and use a 5 GHz WiFi connection.
If you are on WiFi and experiencing no lags in media delivery or complaints from the people you communicate with, then you should be fine without making any changes.
Potential risks
WiFi connections aren’t stable in nature.
They are affected by interferences occurring around us, as well as by the distance from your device to the access point. These can influence live conversations and communications by introducing packet losses or bursty behavior leading to video and audio freezes.
Suggested actions to take
-
Switch to an Ethernet connection if you can, especially if you are conducting your calls and meetings from the same location most of the time
-
If you can’t use Ethernet, make sure you know where the WiFi access point you are connected to is, and try to be as close to it as possible. That will improve reception and by extension, the quality of your calls and meetings
-
Prefer using the newer 5 GHz WiFi connections over the older 2.4 GHz ones. They are better
