What is this about?

We’ve detected that you might be on a cellular connection. If this is the case, you can expect poor connectivity and rapid changes in media quality in your calls and meetings.

In general, our advice would be to refrain from using cellular to connect as much as possible (we know that isn’t always doable).

Potential risks

Cellular connections are quite finicky with their quality and performance. They might be good one second and unusable the next. Conducting calls and meetings over cellular is possible, but is inadvisable if you have other alternatives.

If you are making your calls from a static location on a regular basis, try to figure out a way to be on a wired Ethernet connection or at the very least a WiFi connection. Read the full article to learn more.

Suggested actions to take

  • Switch to an Ethernet connection if you can, especially if you are conducting your calls and meetings from the same location most of the time

  • If you can’t use Ethernet, make sure you know where the WiFi access point you are connected to is, and try to be as close to it as possible. That will improve reception and by extension, the quality of your calls and meetings

  • Prefer using the newer 5 GHz WiFi connections over the older 2.4 GHz ones. They are better

  • If all else fails and you need to use cellular, then at least try to find a location with better reception to take your calls
